Guide · Heroes

A hero's title sets their weight class. Their level is what you build over time, and it's what separates a fresh recruit from a feared commander.

XP and level

Your hero earns XP by fighting: attacks on camps, dungeons and forts on the map, oasis battles, attacks and defenses against other players, and the Colossus duels. Harder targets and more enemy losses pay more. A defeat pays less than a victory.

  • Levels go up to 65, and each level needs more XP than the last.
  • Each level adds +4% to the base stats, compounding.
  • The attack, defense and HP your equipment grants as a percentage use that leveled base. Leveling the hero also makes your gear worth more (see Equipment and the Forge).

Some servers use an XP brake: a very large battle pays less than its full value, and after a certain amount in a day each battle pays a smaller fraction. When the brake is on, the hero screen shows your current band and how much is left until the next one. It applies to the whole account, not per hero, and the 24-hour window starts with your first XP.

Guild bonuses and Guild Shop items can raise the XP your hero receives.

Health and regeneration

Your hero loses health in battle and regenerates on their own: from zero to full takes 20 hours of real time. That time doesn't speed up with the server speed. Heroes are a scarce resource on purpose, and sending one out wounded is a risky call. A hero with no health can't march.

Potions

Potions go to your bag, and you use them on the hero screen or under Consumables in the Armory. They heal part of the maximum health, not the whole bar:

  • Life Potion (cash): heals 20% of maximum health.
  • Common Potion (silver): heals 5%, up to 5 uses every 24 hours. The window starts with the first use.

Both are sold in the Shop. No potion brings a hero back from the dead.

Death and revival

If health hits zero, the hero dies. A dead hero doesn't regenerate, can't march and can't change equipment, and the pieces they wear can't be upgraded or reforged until they're back.

To bring them back, use Revive on the hero screen:

  • The cost is in bronze and silver and grows with the hero's level.
  • They come back with part of their health, and the rest regenerates as usual.
  • Each hero can only be revived once every 12 hours.

The Guild Shop also sells items that heal or revive a hero.

Selling a hero

Selling (dismissing) a hero returns part of the recruitment cost in bronze and silver, a bit more the higher their level. A dead hero is worth less. Their equipment goes to your backpack, and the slot under the hero cap opens up, which helps when a better title shows up in the Hall (Recruiting heroes).

A marching hero can't be sold. Wait for them to come back.
