Chests and odds

Guide · Heroes

There are two kinds of chest in the game:

  • vaults, which you open with cash on the Chests screen (under Army);
  • reward chests, which come from quests, achievements, events and the Shop, and go to your bag unopened.

Each vault's exact odds are on the vault screen itself, under Detailed odds, and on the wiki's item pages.

The vaults

  • Armory Vault: rolls a piece of equipment, from Common to Legendary.
  • Arcane Vault: rolls a gem. The highest tier and the possible effects depend on your Forge level; with a low Forge, the vault never goes past its ceiling.

You can open one at a time or ten at once, at a discount. Prices show on the buttons. The Armory Vault needs backpack space for the new pieces.

The bad-luck meter

Each vault has a meter (the pity) that rises with every opening that misses the top prize and resets when it drops. The meter is per account and doesn't fade over time:

  • Armory Vault: a Legendary guaranteed within at most 100 openings. After 80 openings without a legendary, the legendary chance starts rising with each new opening. That's the soft pity.
  • Arcane Vault: a tier IV gem guaranteed within at most 80 openings, with soft pity after 60 openings. The meter resets when a gem of that tier or higher drops. If your Forge doesn't unlock that tier yet, the guarantee delivers the best gem it allows.

The 10-pack guarantee

Ten openings at once in the Armory Vault always bring at least one Rare piece or better: if the rolls don't include one, the first piece becomes Rare. The Arcane Vault has no such guarantee.

Reward chests

They wait unopened under Consumables in the Armory, and you open them whenever you like. With a full backpack, you can't open equipment chests.

  • Common Chest: a simple piece that never goes above Rare.
  • Chest of Fate: a gamble. It can bring anything from a Common piece to a Legendary one, which is extremely rare; when no piece comes out, you get silver as consolation.
  • Armory Chest: always an Epic piece, in a random slot. Some slots come up less often than others.
  • Category chests (Weapons, Armor, Jewelry and Mount): sold in the Shop. They bring an Epic or Legendary piece for a slot in that category.
  • Guild War Chest: bronze and silver, no item.

Don't mix up the Armory Chest, which is a reward, with the Armory Vault, which you open with cash. The Wolf and Scorpion set chests work differently: see Sets and relics.
